Opp: Visual Arts information evening with Oomph!

Please join Julie Read from Portfolio Oomph for an inspiring evening to learn about the scope for careers in the creative industries - visual arts. **This event is aimed at both parents and pupils at Edinburgh Schools (S4,5 & 6) and it is preferable to attend with your son or daughter. This to fully understand and communicate the competition that there is for places at some of the leading art colleges/universities. Please book a ticket each to enable us to know numbers and plan appropriately.** We will unwrap the skills gained in a creative education and how they’re transferable to many careers (soft vs hard). We will inform you of the ways into these careers through further and higher education. Edinburgh is rich with opportunities for artists and designers, post education. We will uncover resources, studio complexes, open access facilities etc. We will offer further advice on portfolios and College / UCAS applications & signpost. Being successful with your portfolio is about speed of implementation and the sooner you start, the more advanced your portfolio is likely to be. Competition is fierce. For example at Edinburgh College of Art there are in the region of 6000 applicants. This is for approximately 280 places (1:22). You need to learn to think creatively. Then prepare your portfolio in the best way possible so that you don’t miss out.
