As Creative Edinburgh enters its seventh year with membership approaching 4,000, and growing, it’s set to welcome Pete Irvine (Unique Events, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, Scotland The Best, Glasgow’s European City of Culture programme and many more) to its board.
The move represents a further commitment to bringing strong creative vision and strong advocacy to a board that already features respected practitioners in the digital, media and communications, design, literature and technology sectors, supported by an experienced and connected Steering Group.
Irvine was attracted to the role because of its cross-disciplinary representation and unconventional but extremely active approach to member engagement and events.
Pete Irvine said “I’m delighted to be joining the board at an exciting time and making a contribution to the work that Creative Edinburgh does in nurturing and supporting a vibrant and expanding tribe of young companies and enterprising people. I’m looking forward to being involved with folk who look forward in everything they do and make up a creative movement who are vital to the cultural development of the city."
Said Chairman, Mark Gorman, “It’s a real coup to attract someone of the global status and reputation of Pete. It underscores our ambitions to take the organisation to new levels of engagement and creativity. Pete will bring lots of great ideas to Creative Edinburgh and we are thrilled that he has accepted our invitation.”
Director Claire Stewart added “"Pete has a wealth of valuable experience and is passionate about helping and supporting the next generation in their creative careers - he has acted as a creative spokesperson for Edinburgh and is a committed independent advocate of arts and culture. His appointment to Creative Edinburgh's board is great news as he shares our passion to support and advocate for Edinburgh's year-round creative community."
