We're delighted to unveil the 9 projects which have received funding through our Connected Innovators programme!
Our Round 1 Cohort were selected this summer out of 57 applicants to receive funding to explore new approaches to their work, develop their practice, scaling their business or supporting their community.
Operating as part of the wider Creative Informatics programme, Connected Innovators is an opportunity for emerging leaders in the creative industries to apply for up to £10,000 funding for research and development or professional development around data and data-driven innovation.
The first round’s funding has been awarded to:
Alex Durussel-Baker for her service design project about Type 1 Diabetes.
Applied Arts Scotland funding to explore digital and immersive tech for makers and craft.
Brian Baglow for the Scottish Games Network to map the rapidly evolving video games and
interactive industries in Scotland.
Caro Overy for her tool to help address the climate emergency via culture’s positive impact on
the environment.
Chris Dooks for ‘ The Stationary Space Station’ – developing online activities around creative
writing, photography, and sonic art for people with M.E (myalgic encephalomyelitis).
Chris Harrison for funding to develop a new hardware platform to help merge data-driven
creative control technologies used within the entertainment industry.
Michael Begg for his data sonification project transforming data into musically meaningful
information.
Sarah Calmus to upskill her use of data-driven tech for her visual arts, multi-disciplinary
immersive sculptural practice.
Sian Bevan funding for Inquisitive Narratives to connect data and young audiences through
performance.
Alongside their funding, the applicants will receive support, skills and expertise from our incredible network to help them develop their practice and ideas to take their work to the next level.
