Help Creative Edinburgh support Edinburgh’s creative sector - Join our Board!
Please Note: Applications are now closed.
Creative Edinburgh is a network of over 4,000 people working across the creative industries, from graphic designers to musicians, ceramic artists to software designers, often working alone or in micro-enterprises.
We help our members to thrive through providing networking opportunities, practical business support and advocacy. We’re funded through Creative Scotland, through our members directly, and through our involvement with partnerships like Creative Informatics, which brings academia and creatives together to use data effectively.
Being a board member is an opportunity to support our Executive Director Briana Pegado and her team to provide the most effective support for the sector at a time when it couldn’t be more needed. As well as attending at least five early evening board meetings a year to review overall performance, we’d expect board members to be involved in at least one working group, bringing your specific skills and experience to help the team solve challenges they face.
We’re particularly, but not only, looking for people who bring one or more of the following:
- business development skills, as we try to develop more services that will benefit our network and bring in income.
- significant experience themselves working as freelancers in the creative industries.
- Experience of helping people in the creative industries understand how to work with big data, in particular with the higher education sector
We’re a diverse bunch in the creative industries, and it’s important to have a similar diversity of voice and experience on our board. We especially encourage applicants who identify as carers, parents, non-binary and genderqueer folk, people that identify as neurodiverse and disabled, people from BAME backgrounds, people from the queer community, people from working-class backgrounds, people from different religious backgrounds and we also encourage young people and students to apply.
We are flexible and board members will have the option of taking part in meetings remotely.
We don’t require previous board experience - we can help you learn the ropes. If you’d like an informal chat about the opportunity, drop an email to email@example.com and we’ll arrange for one of our existing board members to get in touch.
Board positions are not paid, but we will reimburse reasonable expenses to allow you to participate.
If you’re ready to apply, You can either send us a 3-5 minute video taken on your phone (it’s not about the production quality) or a written submission of less than 500 words to firstname.lastname@example.org covering why you’re interested in the opportunity and what you’d bring to our board. We’ll shortlist from this and conduct interviews as needed. If you have access requirements, please also get in touch at the same email address.
Interviews will follow the application process, taking place the week commencing July 13th.
Deadline for Applications - 29th June 2020
