Creative Edinburgh Awards 2020: Nominations Guide

The Creative Edinburgh Awards 2020 is now open for nominations! We can’t wait to celebrate the brightest creative ideas from across Edinburgh at our ceremony on Thursday 12th November 2020.

Delivered in partnership with the wonderful Sweetdram and 54EP, this year’s Creative Edinburgh Awards + 9th Birthday Bash will fuse virtual and real-life events so we can make sure all the nominees and winners get the huge celebration they deserve!

Our entry form is designed to be quick and simple, suitable for those nominating themselves or someone else.

Here are our top tips to guide you through the nomination process!

In the Typeform, you’ll find a few different documents to consult. As Typeform doesn’t allow you to save as you go, download these, fill in your application in a document then copy and paste in when you’re ready.

Find the Awards criteria, Category criteria and Application form template here!

Plus, you can save all that fab content for your next funding application or testimonial!

Exam flashbacks? Us too, but it really is the best advice! Read through the full entry form, take note of what’s being asked then separate your answers accordingly. We’ve asked everything we need to know so be sure to answer it in the right place so we don’t miss important information about the project.

We love hearing how projects have inspired, excited and broken new ground, but don’t forget to remember which Award category you’re nominating yourself for and tell us how your project fits within it too. You can see the criteria for all awards on the Awards section of our website as well as in the above resource folder.

Our entry form is designed to be quick, straightforward and fair for all entries. No essays required! Just tell us what you think we need to know within a paragraph or two. We’re looking for quality, not quantity.

Be sure your links illustrate the project or person nominated and the value it’s had to Edinburgh’s creative scene. Additional content is optional, but if you are including, links to a resource folder (Google Drive, Facebook Album or similar) are preferred over downloads so they’re easily accessible. Also, please make sure the attachments are good quality.

There’s nothing we love more than seeing cross-sector collaborations so we want to hear from you, even if you’re only on the fringes of the creative industries. Techies, IT folk, lawyers - whoever you are, if you’ve collaborated with the creative industries or do work which represents it, that’s worth celebrating.

We know how tough this year (we’ve even added The 2020 Award just to commemorate it!) has been on anyone and especially to the work and life of creatives - we reckon everyone deserves an award! If you started a project but didn’t quite reach your end goal, it’s still worth celebrating, so share the ways you pivoted and shifted your approach to produce something still entirely inspiring.

Yes. we have The Student Award to celebrate those pushing boundaries and approaching their studies in a new way, but we also want to see students popping up across all categories! Take a look at the category list and if your nomination happens to be a student but fits better in a different category, go for it!

Nominations have now been extended until Friday 18th September. Don’t forget, you deserve celebrating yourself as much as everyone else, so nominate yourself if you’ve been working on an exciting creative project over the past 12 months. If you have any questions, get in touch with us at info@creative-edinburgh.com

We don’t want to leave any stone of Edinburgh’s creative community unturned, so please share the entry form around your networks and encourage friends, colleagues and collaborators to nominate.

We can’t wait to read your applications and really hope you can join us on Thursday 12th November!
