Applying for Connected Innovators? Check out these resources

Applications for Connected Innovators Round 4 are now open and close 11 May at 5pm.

Connected Innovators, part of the Creative Informatics programme, gives you the opportunity to apply for funding for research and development or professional development of up to £10,000!

To apply for this incredible funding opportunity and to learn more about the application please visit Creative Informatics.

Before applying please consider how your work could explore one of the four key areas:

  • Developing new modalities of experience (definition: modality - a particular way of doing or experiencing something)
  • Exploring new business models for the creative industries.
  • Developing access to and engagement with new audiences and markets (i.e. engagement can mean putting on work for the community, working with audiences, community-led practice, collaborating with the public and exploring new customers)
  • Unlocking the value of archives and data sets.

Successful participants will receive financial support and facilitated peer support to complete R&D projects and/or professional development around data and data-driven innovation. The results of which will be shared across Edinburgh’s wider creative community.

Useful resources

To further illustrate what data-driven innovation looks like, take some time to delve into the projects that were previously awarded the Connected Innovators funding. Read our blog on the current cohort here and watch presentations here.

To provide a better understanding about what data is in the creative industries, CI Research Associate, Dr. Susan Lechelt created a brilliant presentation which also demonstrates the themes of creative challenges and how this can be addressed through data-driven innovation.

Furthermore, if you would like a better understanding of what it means to evaluate your impact, watch this presentation from Dr. Susan Lechelt.

On the 12 April we hosted a Discovery Workshop for applicants to ask questions about the application process, if you couldn’t make the workshop, no worries, you can catch up with the presentations and discussion in the recording.

As a reminder, the application closes on the 11 May and Creative Edinburgh will be hosting drop in sessions on the 28 April & 05 May from 2 - 3pm.
