"I'm delighted to be joining Creative Edinburgh, especially at such an exciting point in its history. I can’t wait to get stuck in!"
Following a successful outcome, through the Creative Scotland Regularly Funded Organisations fund, our interim Executive Director role has been made permanent. An advertised recruitment process led to a large volume of high quality applications, resulting in the recruitment of Yasmin Sulaiman (currently Editor in Chief at The List) to the role.
Chairman, Mark Gorman, said: “We are thrilled with both the quality of response and our ability to attract someone of such obvious quality to take the organisation forward into the next stage of our development. The RFO bid gave us an excellent opportunity to really challenge our thinking about what the organisation’s ambitions and purpose and what it could strive to achieve.”
Yasmin Sulaiman said: "I'm delighted to be joining Creative Edinburgh, especially at such an exciting point in its history. I can’t wait to get stuck in with the team, our members and the city’s creative organisations to make Edinburgh a better place for creatives to live and work. I’m extremely grateful to my colleagues at The List, who I’ve loved working with for the past four years, and to Creative Edinburgh’s Interim Director Claire Stewart for all of her valuable advice and guidance during the transition period.”
Creative Edinburgh's Interim Director, Claire Stewart, will step down in April. She said: "I would like to thank the team, board, steering group, members and partners of Creative Edinburgh for their support over the past year. It has been a privilege to support Edinburgh's creatives and to be a part of the development of a strong and rooted creative sector in the city."
Mark Gorman said: “We are grateful to Claire, both for her work in securing the successful Creative Scotland RFO bid and for her commitment in leading the organisation through a successful year which has built on our already strong foundations for the future. In implementing the new strategy we believe Yasmin will be able to build on Claire’s work and we wish Claire well in her own personal career development. The board would like to thank Claire for the important role she has played for Creative Edinburgh.”
